Description

Master Freediver - Everything you need to set records

Course Goals

This very advanced course gives you everything you need to develop towards setting the next world record in your favourite freediving discipline and adds individual training to fine-tune your skills.

Building on an already advanced level of freediving skills and -understanding, you will be introduced to specialised training techniques, training physiology and -psychology and the risks that come with potentially extreme freediving - including strategies and tactics that help minimise those risks.

Schedule and Content

Day 1: Classroom and Dry Training

  • Advanced training physiology
  • Specialised training techniques that trigger the Mammalian Dive Response (MDR)
  • Specific training techniques for advanced freediving
  • Cross-training including prior athletic experience
  • Diet and freediving
  • Equalisation techniques for extreme depth
  • Risks of Nitrogen-related injuries in freediving
  • Advanced freediving equipment

Day 2: Pool Training

  • Target dives in Static and Dynamic freediving
  • Advanced buddying and coaching
  • Efficient turns in the pool
  • Demonstration quality diving
  • Advanced rescue training

Days 3 and 4: Open Water Training

  • FRC - Diving with less than a full lung
  • Practising the mouthfill technique
  • Diving in adverse conditions
  • Demonstration quality diving in the open water
  • Self rescue exercises
  • Deep rescue training
  • Rescues in adverse conditions
  • Written exam

Day 5: Individual Fine-Tuning

We leave the fifth day of the training to work on those skills or understanding that have proven to be most limiting to your advancement in the sport. As such, we may train in the open water, pool, classroom or on the yoga mats, depending what is most beneficial for you.

Equipment

In order to act as an AIDA4 freediver in a course, we highly recommend having your own full set of equipment

  • Low volume mask
  • Freediving fins
  • Freediving wet suit
  • Flexible weight belt and/or neck weight
  • Freediving nose clip
  • Freediving computer
  • Freediving lanyard

If you want to buy your own set of equipment, you can do so at our shop, where we will be happy to help you choose the setup that works best for you. If you already know what you want, order your equipment in advance and have it waiting for you when you arrive!

Prerequisites

Participation in this course requires a high level of freediving skills and education. An advance certification is necessary. To achieve this certification, see our advanced courses:

Also, this course requires first aid certification no older than two years. First aid is one of the most rewarding training programmes one can get. To get your first certification or a refresher, see our 1st Aid courses

Certification

Certifications available at this level are AIDA4, Apnea Academy Level 3 and Apnea International Level 3
